The methylene bridges serve as a heat sink when the materials are exposed to fire by absorbing a significant amount of heat energy. Melamine is a good substitute for other flame retardants, such as halogens, because of its quality. Specialty paints, textile goods, and flexible urethane foam are its main uses. Products for electronics use it as well.
